Post 4 'Cram the Cruiser' Results

Date of News Release: 12/16/2011

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - KSP Post 4, in partnership with North Hardin Christian School, collected over 3,500 lbs. of food over the past several days. This food will be distributed to area shelters, churches, and needy families. The students and staff at North Hardin Christian School are to be commended for their efforts in collecting so much food. Last year, Post 4 collected 415 lbs. We far surpassed that this year thanks to the diligent efforts of our young people and the hospitable citizens in Post 4's area. Approximately 1,250lbs. of food was delivered to 'the Helping Hand' in Elizabethtown. Another 1,250 lbs. went to shelters and needy families in Meade County with the remaining 1,000 lbs. going to churches in Grayson County to be distributed to families in their area. To give you an idea of how much food 3,500 lbs. is, we stuffed the back seat from floorboard to roof of two marked KSP cruisers, the truck bed of our evidence truck and another bed of an unmarked truck full of canned goods and box dinners. Thanks to the efforts of Post 4 citizens, many families in our community will have meals this Christmas season they would not have otherwise had. I am confident that we can double this year's total by collecting over 7,000 lbs. next year!

Statewide totals are in. State Police Posts around the state collected a total of 49,668 lbs of food for the Cram the Cruiser campaign. This is over double the amount of 22,586 lbs collected last year. Post 4 Elizabethtown collected the fifth highest amount in the state.
