Kansas man arrested after investigation

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - KSP Post 04 initiated an investigation into the relationship between Paul Michael Meier, 35 from Salina, Kansas, and his 15 year old niece after being contacted by the Kansas Department for Rehabilitation and Social Services. During the investigation, the victim turned 16. On 12/07/2011, the Meade County Sheriff's Office arrested Meier for custodial interference because he took the victim to Kansas for several days. After consulting with the Meade County Sheriff's Office, Meade County Attorneys Office and family members, Detective Terry Whittaker obtained warrants for Meier for the charges of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree and Prohibited Use of an Electronic Communication System to Procure a Minor / Police Officer for a Sex Offense. The warrants were served on him at the Meade County Detention Center where he is currently lodged.
