Injury collision on Leitchfield Road

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - On 11/4/2011 at 10:30 a.m. Kentucky State Police received a report of an injury accident in the 16000 block Leitchfield Road. Unit 1, a 2003 Ford F150, operated by Adam T. Campbell, 28, from Eastview, Ky, was traveling west on Leitchfield Rd. Unit 2, a 2008 Kenworth dump truck, operated by Gerald Smallwood, 28, from Cecilia, Ky was traveling east on Leitchfield Rd. For unknown reasons unit 1 dropped off the right side of the road. Unit 1 overcorrected to the left, crossed the yellow line and struck unit 2 in the left side. After impact unit 1 rotated and slid off the right side of the road and struck an embankment. After impact unit 2 slid east several feet and came to final rest in the eastbound lanes of Leitchfield Rd. Operator of unit 1 has serious injuries and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital and later transferred to University Hospital. A minor in his vehicle had minor injuries and was treated at Hardin Memorial Hospital Operator of unit 2 was not injured. Two passengers in unit 2 had minor injuries and were treated and released at Hardin Memorial Hospital. The White Mills Fire Department, Eastview Fire Department, and Hardin County EMS, and Trooper Chris Rafferty were also on scene. Trooper Justin Spears is investigating the accident.
