Armed robbery investigation and arrest

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) –- At approximately 8:52 am Trooper Kevin Davis radioed to Post 04 that the Nelson County Sheriff's Department reported an armed robbery at Snider's Pharmacy in Bloomfield in Nelson County. Trooper Davis got behind the suspect vehicle on the Bluegrass Parkway. A vehicle pursuit ensued after Trooper Davis engaged his emergency lights and siren. The pursuit continued for several minutes and ended when the suspect crashed on KY 53 in Anderson County approximately 10 miles south of Lawrenceburg. The suspect exited the vehicle with a rifle and duffle-bag and fled on foot. Trooper Davis deployed his Taser and OC spray as the suspect continued to fight. At one point during the altercation the suspect attempted to disarm Trooper Davis. Trooper Davis was able to overpower the suspect and place him under arrest at approximately 9:17 am. The suspect, William R. Keeton, 35 year old white male from Harrodsburg, KY, was charged with Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer, Fleeing or Evading 1st Degree, Wanton Endanderment 1st Degree, Assault 3rd (Police Officer), Resisting Arrest, and numerous traffic offenses. Trooper Davis sustained minor cuts and bruises to his hands and legs during the altercation and was treated and released at Flaget Hospital. Keeton was treated and released from Frankfort Regional Hospital. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
KSP Post 12 is working the crash and the Nelson County Sheriff's Department is working the armed robbery and stolen vehicle portion of the investigation.
