DUI Injury Collision on the Western Kentucky Parkway

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On September 4, 2011 at 11:39 p.m. Kentucky State Police Post 4 received several calls of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the Western Kentucky Parkway. Troopers responded and attempted to stop the driver at about the 134 mile marker. After two near misses the vehicle struck struck one of the responding troopers. Vehicle then lost control and came to final rest in a ditch. The suspect was identified as Thomas Coleman III. The 70 year-old Louisville resident sustained serious but not life threatening injuries and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital and later transferred to University of Louisville Hospital. Thomas Coleman III was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Coleman was charged with DUI, Wanton Endangerment and Assault Third Degree. The collision is still under investigation. The trooper was treated and released with no apparent injuries. Coleman will be taken into custody by Post 4 troopers once he is released.
