Arrest of Hardin County Deputy Jailer

Date of News Release: 08/05/2011

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On August 5, 2011 at approximately 4:12 pm ET Deputy Jailer, Shadrick A. Blackmon, black male age 32 from Radcliff, KY was arrested on the charge of Bribery of a Public Servant during an undercover operation. Today's operation revealed Mr. Blackmon taking cash from a cooperating witness at a location in Radcliff.

Today's arrest was a result of a phone call the Kentucky State Police received on August 1st, 2011 from the Hardin County Jailer Danny Allen. Jailer Allen was concerned that one of his deputies had solicited money or sexual favors from a cooperating witness in return to get an inmate illegally out of jail. Mr. Blackmon was charged, processed at the Hardin County Detention Center and lodged in the Larue County Jail. After consulting with the Commonwealth's Attorneys' Office other charges are pending. Mr. Blackmon had been employed at the Hardin County Detention Center for less than 1 year.

The Kentucky State Police spearheaded the investigation and was assisted by the Hardin County Detention Center, the Hardin County Drug/Narcotics Task Force and the Elizabethtown Police Department.
