Two injured in a two vehicle collision on KY259

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - On July 16, 2011, at 5:00 pm Eastern time, Kentucky State Police Post 4 received a request from the Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office to investigate a serious injury accident on KY259, approximately 2 miles south of the Meade County line. The accident was investigated by Trooper Brad Riley. Trooper Riley reported that a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, operated by Amanda J. Morsey (age 17 of Hardinsburg, KY), was traveling southbound when it struck a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, operated by Tessa M. Smallwood (age 25 of Stephensport, KY), head-on. Amanda Morsey suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to University of Louisville Hospital by the Air Evac Life Team. Tessa Smallwood suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries and was transported to Breckinridge War Memorial Hospital by Breckinridge County EMS. Trooper Riley reported that both Morsey and Smallwood were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision; and, he reported that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision. Trooper Riley's investigation into the accident is ongoing.
