Three injured in a two vehicle collision on US31W in Hardin County

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - On June 15, 2011, at 5:41 pm Eastern time, Kentucky State Police Post 04 received a report of a two vehicle injury accident at the intersection of US31W and Memory Lane, in the city limits of Upton. The accident was investigated by Trooper Arthur Baetzel. Trooper Baetzel reported that a 1993 GMC pickup, operated by Troy F. Alford (a 52-year-old male from Glendale, KY), was traveling westbound on Memory Lane, when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and entered into the path of commercial semi-tractor/ trailer, operated by Benford J Williams (a 52 year-old male from Lavergne, TN), which was traveling southbound on US31W. Troy Alford suffered serious injuries and went to University Hospital in Louisville. Two passengers, Ricky L. Love (a 47-year-old male from Upton, KY) and Troy F. Alford Jr (a 22-year-old male from Elizabethtown, KY), suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and went to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown for treatment. Semi driver was not injured.
