Injury collision on Leitchfield Road

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - A 2002 Kia, operated by James Brewer, of Big Clifty, KY, was traveling westbound on Leitchfield Road, near the Hardin County/ Grayson County line, when it left the right shoulder of the roadway, due to the driver falling asleep. Upon reentering the roadway, Brewer overcorrected and lost control of his vehicle, which skidded sideways into the eastbound lane. A 2001 Ford Ranger, operated by a Melissa Decker, of Leitchfield, KY, was traveling eastbound on Leitchfield Road and struck Brewer's vehicle in the passenger side door. Both patients were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital; however, Brewer was later flown to University of Louisville Hospital, by AirMethods, with potential life-threatening injuries. Decker was treated and released. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
