Update to the Fatal collision on I-65

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - Update on the fatal accident. It was determined through investigation that Victor Chacon, age 49, was the driver of the 1999 Nissan Pathfinder, instead of Melissa Gonzalez as reported earlier.

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - George T. Grimes Jr., black male, age 31 of Louisville, Ky. was northbound on I-65 in the right hand lane. Melissa Gonzalez, hispanic female, age 30 of Chicago, Il. was also northbound on I-65 in the right hand lane. For unknown reasons the Mr. Grimes's vehicle rear ended Ms. Gonzalez's vehicle. Ms. Gonzalez's vehicle exited the roadway on the east side, overturned, ejecting 5 occupants.

Mr. Grimes who was wearing a seatbelt was not injured.

Ms. Gonzalez was flown to University of Louisville hospital along with passenger Victor Chacon, hispanic male, age 49 of Chicago Il. Both adults were restrained.

Victor Chacon, 5 years old of Chicago, Il., was flown to Kosairs as well as Yaznylie Chacon, 2 years old of Chicago, Il.

Deceased at the scene were Victor Chacon, hispanic male, of Chicago, Il., age 26. Brianna Chacon, 10 years old of Chicago, Il., and Tatyana Alvarez, HF, 11 years old.

Detective Terry Whittaker is the accident reconstructionist investigating the collision.
