Injury collision on I-65 at the 108mm

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - On February 15, 2011 at 0830 hours, the Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown responded to a report of an injury accident at the 108mm, NB, I-65. Mahad M. Ahmed, 36, of Minneapolis, Mn. was driving a 2004 Frht, was traveling northbound on I-65 when he began to have difficulty with his transmission shifter and could not get the truck to engage in gear. Driver stated that he had slowed his truck and had turned the flashers on in an attempt to merge over to the emergency strip. Dallas G. Hogan, 51, of Brandenburg, Ky. was driving a 2006 Intl, was also traveling northbound and attempted to change lanes to avoid striking Mr. Ahmed's vehicle. Mr. Hogan struck Mr. Ahmed's vehicle in the rear of its trailer. Mr. Ahmed's vehicle came to a final rest in the right lane. Mr. Hogan's vehicle came to final rest near the middle lane with the cab of the truck facing the southbound side of I-65.

Dallas G. Hogan was transported to University of Louisville hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Mahad M. Ahmed did not sustain any injuries.

Investigation is being conducted by Trooper Eric Hines with the Kentucky State Police.
