Fatal collision on US 231 in Butler County

(Bowling Green, Ky.) - On November 29, 2011 at 7:26 pm, the Kentucky State Police responded to a single vehicle collision on US 231 north in Butler County, KY.

When Trooper Brian McKinney arrived at the scene he located a single vehicle which was involved in the collision.

The preliminary reports states that the vehicle was headed north bound on US 231 and swerved to miss a deer, overcorrected, and struck a guardrail face. The vehicle then struck an electrical pole and traveled several feet into a field before coming to final rest.

The operator, Glenda J. Daugherty (46) of Morgantown, KY was ejected from the vehicle.

Ms. Daugherty was transported by Air Evac to Vanderbilt Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The first passenger, Terrance Mayhew (23) of Morgantown refused treatment at the scene.

The second passenger, who was a juvenile, was transported by PHI Inc. by air to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital for possible back/internal injuries. Condition unknown.

The following agencies assisted the Kentucky State Police; Butler County Sheriffs Office, Butler County Rescue Squad, Butler County EMS, and Morgantown Fire Department.

Trooper Brian McKinney is the lead investigator.

The investigation is ongoing.
