Felony Investigation in Hart County

(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- On Sunday, August 21, 2011, Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received several complaints on a vehicle driving all over the roadway near the 71 mile marker in Hart County. The last call indicated that the vehicle exited off at the Bonnieville exit and was involved in a single vehicle collision. When Trooper Joel Huff arrived he located the operator, Kara M. Gouker (27) of Hendersonville, TN, sitting behind the wheel in a disoriented state. He also observed two small children in the back seat of the vehicle in child safety seats.
Further investigation revealed that the operator was under the influence of marijuana and other narcotics. She was taken to Caverna Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation and later transported to the Hart County Jail where she was lodged and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree 2 counts – Possession Of A Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense 4 counts – DUI 1st Offense Aggravating Circumstances – Possession Of Marijuana – Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possession – Prescription Controlled Substance Not In Proper Container 1st Offense.
Hart County Social Services was contacted and assisted with the children. They were later released into the custody of a grandparent. The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Joel Huff. Trooper Huff was assisted by Trooper Graham Rutherford, Hart County Deputy Kenneth Glass, Bonnieville FD, Hart County EMS, and Hart County Social Services.
