Death Investigation Updated in Barren County
Date of News Release: 08/17/2011
(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police are conducting a murder investigation with regard to the skeletal remains located in Barren County yesterday. State Police Detectives are working with the State Medical Examiner's Office, and Dr. Bill Lee (forensic odontologist / Hardin County Coroner) to identify the remains. Dr. Emily Craig has indicated that remains are most likely that of a female who was 5'8" to 6'0" in height. The race and age of the victim is still undetermined. However, Dr. Craig is continuing to work with other forensics specialists to make those determinations.
One garment was located near the remains appears to be a string bikini with an all-over, flower pattern. The garment's weathering is consistent with that of the skeletal remains. Fillings were found in the teeth of the victim, which has assisted in eliminating Aylene Barrick who has been missing since 1996 (Kentucky State Police Case) and Walter "Greg" Fowler who has been missing since 1999 (Warren County Sheriff's Case). Other comparisons are being made with available dental records from other missing personís cases. Detective Scott Skaggs is the investigating officer. If anyone has any information regarding the possible identity please contact the Kentucky State Police Post 3 at 1-800-222-5555.
