Date of News Release: 08/09/2011

(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10:50 a.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to KY 185 in Warren County regarding a two vehicle injury collision.

According to Trooper Tomie Walters, Unit 1, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Patti Manning (52) of Bowling Green, was traveling south on KY 185 approximately 2 miles from the Warren/Butler County line. Unit 1 crossed the centerline into the Northbound traffic lane in the path of Unit 2, a 2010 Chevrolet HHR driven by William Tyler Browning (22) of Brownsville, KY.

Unit 2 made an evasive maneuver by attempting to run off road into the northbound ditch line to avoid the collision. Unit 1 struck Unit 2 on the northbound side of the roadway with the driver's side front end of Unit 1 colliding with the driver's side front end of Unit 2. Unit 2 overturned on its top after the collision, and was at final rest in the ditch line. Unit 1 was at final rest partially blocking both the northbound and southbound lanes facing east.

The driver of Unit 1 and her passenger, JV Buchanon (58) of Bowling Green, were taken by ambulance to the Medical Center in Bowling Green where they were admitted for non-life threatening injuries. Unit 2 was flown to Vanderbilt by Air Evac for a possible back injury.

The driver of Unit 1 was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Drugs 1st Offense.

Trooper Walters is leading the investigation and was assisted on scene by Trooper Jeremy Hodges, Richardsville Fire Department, Medcom, Air Evac, and the Butler Co. EMS.
