Date of News Release: 03/28/2011
(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- On Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 08:31 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received a complaint of a motorist assist on I-65 in Warren County, Kentucky. After Trooper Justin Rountree's arrival, it was discovered that the complaint was actually a non-injury collision. A 1990 Ford Pickup truck was pulling a loaded 18' flat trailer and was being driven by Cody G. Goodman, age 21, of East Ceder Street, Franklin, Kentucky, jackknifed when a tire blew out on his trailer. Terry W. Buckley, age 52, also of East Cedar Street, Franklin, Kentucky, was following Goodman and stopped to assist him, but was not involved in the collision.
While speaking to both subjects, it was determined by Trooper Rountree that the property that was being transported had just been stolen from Franklin Precision Industries in Franklin, Kentucky. The items on the trailer were 316 molten ingots. The property was valued at $11,850 and was returned to the owner.
"I am very pleased at the initiative and investigation displayed by Trooper Rountree," remarked Captain Lisa Rudzinski. "His observance and quick action resulted in the recovery of this property for the victims of this significant theft."
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Justin Rountree. The two subjects were arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property $10,000.00 or more. They were both lodged in Warren County Detention Center.
