Tractor Trailer versus Pedestrian Fatal in Hart County

(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- On Monday, March 7, 2011 at 8:47 p.m., Kentucky State Police received a call for service regarding tractor-trailer versus pedestrian.

A Heartland Express tractor-trailer operated by Russell Gearhart (53) of Shippensburg, PA, was traveling south on I-65 at the 56 mile point. According to the driver, the pedestrian was walking south in the middle of the roadway when he moved into the path of the Heartland Express Tractor-Trailer. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene by the Hart County Coroner Jeff Roten. The pedestrian has been identified as Antonio Pratt (32) of Louisville, Kentucky. An autopsy is being conducted in Louisville on Tuesday, March 8, 2011. The investigation is ongoing and is under the direction of Trooper Jeremy Smith, and he is being assisted by Kentucky State Police Troopers, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Hart County Coroner Office, Hart County EMS, and the Horse Cave Volunteer Fire Department.
