Injury collision on US 431 in Muhlenberg County

Date of News Release: 12/14/2011

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Timothy Richmond, age 45 of Greenville, KY, was operating a 1981 Chevrolet El Camino southbound on US 431. Samara Cantrell, age 28 of Central City, KY, was operating a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on US 431 traveling behind Mr. Richmond. Mr. Richmond had stopped to make a left turn onto Old Saw Mill Lane. Ms. Cantrell could not stop in time and her vehicle rear-ended Mr. Richmond's vehicle. Mr. Richmond was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Ms. Cantrell was transported by a private vehicle to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for precautionary measures. Ms. Cantrell's passenger, Evelyn Cantrell, age 2 of Central City, KY, was not injured. All subjects were using restraints. Trooper Brandon McPherson investigated the crash that occurred on December 14, 2011 at approximately 8:31 a.m. Trooper Craig Engler, Trooper Nathan Craft, the Drakesboro Volunteer Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted.
