Stats from Post 2 for November 2011

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- For the month of November 2011, Post 2 reports the following activity:

  • Arrested 29 Impaired Drivers
  • Issued a Total of 1,542 Citations
  • Issued 686 Speeding Citations
  • Issued 151 Seatbelt Citations
  • Issued 4 Child Restraint Citations
  • Issued 590 Courtesy Notices
  • Investigated 134 Traffic Crashes
  • Assisted 171 Stranded Motorists
  • Responded to 930 Calls for Service
  • Opened 50 Criminal Cases
  • Made 103 Criminal Arrests

**There were three (3) fatal crashes that resulted in the loss of three (3) lives reported in the Post 2 District in November 2011. Two, single-fatality crashes occurred in Christian County. One single-fatality crash occurred in Hopkins County. Two (2) victims were not wearing a seatbelt and one (1) victim was wearing a seatbelt.

Through November 30, 2011, 33 people have been killed in 31 crashes in the Post 2 District. Twelve (12) victims were wearing a seatbelt, nine (9) victims were not wearing a seatbelt, five (5) victims were not wearing a helmet, three (3) victims were pedestrians, one (1) victim was operating a farm tractor, one (1) victim was in an animal-drawn vehicle, one (1) victim was operating a mowing tractor, and the seatbelt status of one (1) victim is unknown.

Through November 30, 2010, 43 people had been killed in 37 crashes in the Post 2 District.

Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.

Throughout the month, troopers from the Madisonville Kentucky State Police Post will conduct traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 2 District. At these checkpoints, troopers will be targeting impaired drivers, checking for properly restrained adults and children and observing for any other safety violations. Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.

**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
