Single Vehicle Injury Collision in Christian County

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Oscar Martinez, age 27 of Pembroke, KY, was operating a 1988 International bus northbound on KY 109 when the passenger side tires dropped off the northbound shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Martinez overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. It crossed both lanes of the roadway and exited the southbound shoulder. The vehicle overturned and the passenger compartment separated from the chassis. The passenger compartment came to final rest on its side in a field off the southbound side of the roadway. The chassis came to final rest upright facing south in the same field. Mr. Martinez and all of the passengers (Jose Dominguez, Juan Arreola, Sergio Sanchez, Ezequiel Rivera, Marco Romero, Francisco Gonzalez, Juan Barajas, Luis Yanez, Fernando Quintero & Sergio Guzman) were transported to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, KY and the Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, TN via local ambulance services. Trooper Nick Rice investigated the crash that occurred on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at approximately 1:15 p.m. The Christian County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
