Single Vehicle Injury Collision on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- William Gill, age 52 of Henderson, KY, was operating a 1999 International Box truck. It was hauling office furniture. The truck was traveling southbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway at approximately the 40 mile-marker when it appears that Mr. Gill lost consciousness. The truck drifted into the emergency lane. Mr. Gill regained consciousness and overcorrected. He lost control of the truck and it traveled into the median. It overturned onto its side and continued onto the northbound lanes. The truck came to rest on its passenger side in the northbound lanes. Mr. Gill was transported via ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. His passenger, Daryl Biggs, age 47 of Henderson, KY, was not injured. Both subjects were wearing seatbelts. At the present time, the road is clear, both lanes are now open. KSP CVE Officer Larry Johnston investigated the crash that occurred on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at approximately 8:55 a.m. The Madisonville Police Department, Grapevine Volunteer Fire Department, Medical Center Ambulance Service, Kentucky Highway Department, and SAFE Patrol assisted at the scene.
