Felony Drug Arrest in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 09/16/2011

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Thursday, September 15, 2011, at approximately 11:23 p.m., Trooper Jon McGehee conducted a traffic stop on South Chestnut Street in the limits of Nortonville. During the course of the traffic stop, troopers located prescription medication, marijuana, and methamphetamine. After conducting field sobriety test, the driver, Cynthia Mallory, age 45 of Madisonville, KY, was arrested for driving under the influence. Ms. Mallory was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription controlled substances, and items of drug paraphernalia. The only other occupant of the vehicle, April Corbitt, age 31 of Earlington, KY, was found to be in possession of marijuana, prescription controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia.

Cynthia Mallory was charged with:

  1. Improper Parking
  2. Failure to Use Turn Signal
  3. Driving Under the Influence 1st Offense
  4. Possession of Marijuana
  5. Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree
  6. Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container 1st Offense
  7. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  8. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Meth)

April Corbitt was charged with:

  1. Possession of Marijuana
  2. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  3. Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree
  4. Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container 1st Offense

They were lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center. Trooper Jacob Fortney assisted with the traffic stop and arrests.
