Injury Collision on US 41A in Hopkins County

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Joshanna Howard-Phillips, age 38 of Manitou, KY, was operating a 2004 Honda Pilot westbound on Webster Street. Murrell Watkins, age 42 of Morganfield, KY, was operating a 2001 Mazda Millenia northbound on US 41A (Nebo Road). Ms. Howard-Phillips was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Webster Street and US 41A (Nebo Road) and proceeded to make a left turn onto US 41A (Nebo Road) to travel south. Ms. Howard-Phillips did not see Mr. Watkins’ vehicle approaching and pulled into its path. The two vehicles collided on the roadway. Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane of US 41A (Nebo Road). Mr. Murrell was transported via ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. Ms. Howard-Phillips and one of her passengers, Joshua Phillips, age 7 of Manitou, KY, were also transported via ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. The other passenger in Ms. Howard-Phillips’ vehicle, Cole Phillips, age 4 of Manitou, KY, was not injured. All subjects involved were wearing seatbelts. Trooper First Class John Komar investigated the collision the occurred in the limits of Manitou on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at approximately 7:05 a.m. The Manitou Volunteer Fire Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
