Vehicle vs. Train Fatality

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- A CSX train was southbound traveling parallel to US 41. Beulah Pirtle, age 45 of Henderson, KY, was operating a 1995 Mazda 626 southbound on US 41. Mrs. Pirtle made a right turn from US 41 onto Sebree Springs Road and turned into the path of the train. The train struck the passenger side of the vehicle. Mrs. Pirtle was pronounced deceased at the scene by Todd Vanover, Webster County Deputy Coroner. No other injuries were reported. Reconstructionist Trooper Nick Rice investigated the collision that occurred on Friday, September 09, 2011 at approximately 12:37 p.m. KSP Sergeant Greg Jones, the Webster County Sheriff's Department, Webster County EMS, Sebree Volunteer Fire Department, and the Webster County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
