Non-Injury Crash w/ Road Closure

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Marvin Phillips, age 69 of Madisonville, KY, was operating a 1998 Freightliner tractor-trailer northbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway Pennyrile when it appears that he fell asleep. The tractor-trailer was hauling chicken waste. It traveled into the median where it overturned onto its side spilling its contents onto the southbound lanes of the parkway. Mr. Phillips, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. The parkway was closed until approximately 9:15 a.m. as crews cleared the scene. Trooper Ryan Fox investigated the crash that occurred on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 3:26 a.m. Trooper First Class John Komar, Emergency Management, Environment Protection Agency, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Hanson Fire Department, Slaughters Fire Department, Sebree Fire Department, and the State Highway Department assisted at the scene.
