Two killed in a single vehicle collision on KY 181

Date of News Release: 08/28/2011

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Vivian O. Devine, age 63 of Greenville, KY, was traveling northbound on KY 181 approximately 7.5 miles south of Greenville in a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer when the vehicle she was driving dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Mrs. Devine then tried to bring the vehicle back onto the roadway and over corrected causing the vehicle to continue back across the roadway and into the southbound lane of travel. She then tried correcting the vehicle once again and traveled back across the north bound lane of travel exiting on the east side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle overturned, hit a fence, and then came to final rest overturned in a hay field. Mrs. Devine sustained injuries due to the collision and was transported to Muhlenberg community hospital for treatment. The front seat passenger, Fred T. Devine, age 66 of Greenville, KY, succumbed to injuries due to the collision at the scene. The rear passenger, Delena R. Brasher, age 42 of Greenville, KY, succumbed to injuries due to the collision at the scene as well. Both were declared deceased by the Muhlenberg County Coronerís office on August 28, 2011 at 01:24 am.
