DUI Injury collision on Battle Training Road

Date of News Release: 07/22/2011

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Unit 1, a 2005 Toyota Camry passenger car, was traveling East near the 4000 block of Battle Training Road. For unknown reasons, Unit 1 left the Eastbound lane of travel and went off the right hand side of the road. Unit 1 continued to travel in the ditch line on the edge of the roadway, went up an embankment striking several small trees and brush, and came back down the embankment to reenter the roadway. Once reaching the edge of the road, Unit 1 overturned on the vehicle's side and rolled several times on the roadway. Unit 1 came to rest in an upright position blocking both lanes of the roadway. The driver of Unit 1 was entrapped and had to be freed by mechanical means. The driver was identified as Julie Holman, a 58 year old female from Elizabethtown. The driver was flown from the collision scene to University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville by air ambulance. The driver is being treated for her injuries and is in stable condition. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the cause of the collision. The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol 2nd offense and driving on a DUI suspended license. Investigation on going by Trooper R. Johnson
