Three injured in a single vehicle collision

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Daniel A. Michaels, age 22 of Hopkinsville, KY, was operating a 2006 Mazda 3 passenger car northbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway. He was attempting to exit the parkway at the Lover's Lane Exit (Exit 5) when he lost control of the vehicle. Mr. Michaels overcorrected and exited the right side of the roadway. The front, driver's side of the vehicle struck an earth embankment. The vehicle overturned coming to rest on its top. Mr. Michaels and his two passengers, Vesenia Trujillo, age 12, and Adrian Michaels, age 9 months, both of Hopkinsville, KY, were transported via ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. Mr. Michaels and Vesenia Trujillo were wearing seatbelts. Adrian Michaels was restrained in a car seat. Trooper Jermaine Savage investigated the crash that occurred on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 2:24 p.m. The Christian County Sheriff's Department, the Hopkinsville Fire Department, and Christian County EMS assisted at the scene.
