Injury collision on KY 91 in Caldwell County

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Charles Wilkerson, age 35 of Dawson Springs, KY, was operating a 2007 Mack truck northbound on KY 91 approximately 3 to 4 miles north of Princeton. The truck was hauling ammonia nitrate, emulsifier, and blasting caps. As Mr. Wilkerson was traveling northbound, the vehicle dropped of the right shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Wilkerson overcorrected and brought the vehicle back onto the roadway. The vehicle traveled into the southbound lane where Mr. Wilkerson overcorrected again. The load shifted and the truck overturned. The truck came to rest overturned on its driver's side blocking both lanes of travel. Mr. Wilkerson, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported via ambulance to the Caldwell Medical Center for treatment. Crews remain at the scene conducting the clean up. Detours were established both north and south of the scene. Trooper First Class Chris King is investigating the crash that occurred on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. KSP CVE Officer Paul Dublin, Caldwell County Sheriff's Department, Caldwell County Fire & Rescue, Caldwell County EMS, the State Fire Marshal's Office, the State EPA Office, and the State Highway Department are assisting at the scene.
