Felony arrest in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 02/01/2011

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, February 01, 2011 at approximately 10:19 a.m., Trooper First Class John Komar conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on White City Road east of Mortons Gap for a traffic offense. TFC Komar and TFC Mark Combs obtained consent to search the vehicle from the driver, Jeffery K. Howard, age 42 of Madisonville, KY. Mr. Howard was instructed to exit from his vehicle and he complied. As TFC Komar was next to the driver’s side of the vehicle and TFC Combs was next to the passenger side, Mr. Howard got back into his vehicle and fled from the scene. The troopers pursued Mr. Howard for a short distance until he stopped his vehicle further on White City Road. He was taken into custody without further incident. Mr. Howard was charged with:

  1. Careless Driving
  2. Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  3. Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Police Officer) – 2 counts

He was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
