Injury crash on the Western Ky. Parkway

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- James C. Niver, age 23, of Travelers Rest, Sc., was eastbound on the Western Ky. Parkway, in a 2011 Blue Ford Focus. Rene F. Guillot, age 54, of Smith's Grove, Ky., was also eastbound, behind Mr. Niver, in a 1998 Freightliner semi-truck, when a deer entered Mr. Niver's path. Mr. Niver struck the deer and Mr. Guillot struck the rear of Mr. Niver's vehicle, causing Mr. Niver's vehicle to strike the guardrail. After Mr. Niver's vehicle collided with the guardrail and Mr. Guillot's semi, several times, it came to final rest in the emergency lane. Mr. Niver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Regional Medical Center, Madisonville, Ky., by Med Center EMS. Mr. Guillot was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
