Fatal crash involving farm tractor in Todd County

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Barbara Byler, age 41 of Trenton, KY, was operating a New Holland TL 90 farm tractor eastbound on KY 848 (Penchem Road) when she lost control of the tractor. The tractor crossed the westbound lane of travel and exited the roadway. It traveled into a field where it overturned and came to rest on the driver. Two children riding on the tractor, Joseph Byler, age 5 of Trenton, KY, and Jolene Byler, age 3 of Trenton, KY, were ejected from the tractor. Mrs. Byler was pronounced dead at the scene by the Todd County Coroner's Office. The children sustained minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, TN for treatment. Trooper Michael Dennis is investigating the crash that occurred on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11:46 a.m. KSP Sergeant Greg Jones, KSP Detective Lonnie Kavanaugh, the Todd County Sheriff's Department, Todd County Fire/Rescue, Todd County EMS, and the Todd County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
