Felony child pornography arrest in Hopkins County

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at approximately 3:35 p.m., KSP Detective Lonnie Kavanaugh executed an arrest warrant on Kyle B. McNeil, age 26 of Madisonville, Ky., at the Hopkins County Detention Center. Mr. McNeil was charged with 13 counts of Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor (Class D Felony). Mr. McNeil was already incarcerated at the Hopkins County Detention Center on unrelated charges.

The charges stem from Detective Kavanaugh's investigation which began on January 18, 2011. Detective Kavanaugh received a complaint advising that Mr. McNeil owned a cellular phone that contained inappropriate images of minors. Detective Kavanaugh obtained a search warrant for the cellular phone and executed the search warrant on the phone. A search of the phone revealed 13 inappropriate images of minors on it. Detective Kavanaugh then obtained the arrest warrant for Mr. McNeil. KSP Detective Lloyd Ray assisted Detective Kavanaugh with the investigation. Mr. McNeil remains lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
