Columbus Couple Charged with Criminal Abuse

(Columbus, Ky.) -- State Police have charged a Hickman County mother and her boyfriend for criminal abuse. On Wednesday, August 31st, Kentucky State Police was notified by the Hickman County Social Service Office of alleged child abuse of an 11-year-old in the Columbus community. Trooper Mike Cook began the investigation and determined the abuse did occur as reported. An examination of the victim showed signs of abuse in the form of bruising on the buttocks of the juvenile. On Thursday, September 1st, warrants were issued for 31-year-old, Amanda Nichy and 41-year-old, Charles Rubey II. Both reside in Columbus. Both Nichy and Rubey were arrested on Thursday and charged with Felony Criminal Abuse. Nichy was lodged in the Fulton County Detention Center. Rubey was lodged in the Hickman County Detention Center. The investigation continues by Trooper Mike Cook of the Kentucky State Police.
