Mayfield Man Summoned to Graves District Court for Illegal Possession of Alcohol in Dry Territory

(Mayfield, KY) – The head of a local Moose Lodge was summoned to court on Monday after State Police seized large quantities of alcoholic beverages from the Mayfield lodge. Just after midnight on August 13th, Kentucky State Police received a complaint of underage drinking at the Moose Lodge on KY 131 north of Mayfield. Minutes after the first complaint, a second anonymous complaint was received reporting a large disturbance in the parking lot of the establishment. Upon arrival of officers, a disturbance could not be located, but an inspection of the club indicated the sale and distribution of alcohol. Graves County is a dry territory. A search warrant was obtained which yielded the discovery and seizure of a several cases of beer and numerous containers of liquor. On Monday, August 15th, State Police served a court summons on 73-year-old Herbert Ross of Mayfield. He was charged with Illegal Possession of Alcohol in a Dry Territory 3rd or Greater Offense. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Alison Ramsey with the Kentucky State Police. KSP was assisted by the Graves County Sheriff's Office.
