Theft Investigation and Arrest by KSP

(Hickory, Ky.) -- A Calloway county woman was arrested on Monday after a five month theft investigation by the Kentucky State Police. In March, Kentucky State Police received information that 28-year-old Kayla Belcher, deceivingly collected donations for the Western Kentucky Special Olympics Polar Plunge. Further investigation revealed that Belcher collected in excess of $200.00 from various individuals. The individuals believed that they were donating money to the annual Polar Plunge event hosted by the Kentucky Special Olympics. It was discovered through the investigation that the money was never turned over to the Special Olympics Organization. On August 1st, Kayla Belcher was arrested at the Marshall County Jail where she was being held on unrelated charges. Belcher was charged with Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property, a class A misdemeanor. The investigation is continuing by Detective Brett Miller with the Kentucky State Police.
