Mayfield Man Charged With Theft

(Mayfield, Ky.) -- A former city of Mayfield employee has been charged with theft after a Kentucky State Police investigation. Wes Rhodes, a former Mayfield fire fighter, was arrested Thursday morning after a month long investigation related to the misuse of union funds. The investigation began in late April after Mayfield city officials contacted KSP regarding the theft of fire fighter union dues. Further investigation revealed that Rhodes had taken approximately $2900.00 in union dues dating back to 2010. Other investigation showed that Rhodes had used a union credit card for personal purchases in excess of $8000.00. It was also discovered that approximately $1600.00 was taken from a union wellness account. No city of Mayfield funds were found to be taken during the investigation. Forty-year-old Rhodes, turned himself in to authorities on Thursday morning. Rhodes was charged with three counts of Theft By Unlawful Taking Over $500.00. He was lodged in the Graves County Jail. The investigation is continuing by Detective Brett Miller with the Kentucky State Police.
