Three injured in a two vehicle collision

Date of News Release: 05/05/2011

(Mayfield, Ky.) -- Michael McFarland was traveling northbound on the Julian Carroll Jackson Purchase Parkway as Julia Suiter was attempting to ramp onto the Parkway from Exit 22 (US Highway 80 - West Broadway). Mr. McFarland observed Ms. Suiter's vehicle entering the flow of traffic at a slow speed and was unable to avoid the collision. Mr. McFarland's vehicle struck the rear of Ms. Suiter's vehicle and then jackknifed, causing it to block both northbound lanes of the Parkway. The Purchase Parkway was shut down for approximately two hours. All occupants (McCayla Rodgers, Kelia Rodgers and Julia A Suiter) of Ms. Suiter's vehicle were transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries. Graves County Sheriff's Department, Mayfield City Police Department, Mayfield-Graves County Rescue and Ambulance Service assisted Kentucky State Police on the scene.
