KSP Apprehend Fugitive in Marshall County

Don Brelsford(Benton, KY) – Kentucky State Police have captured a man who escaped from police custody on March 18th. At approximately 9:00 PM on March 31st, Kentucky State Police received information that Don Brelsford was possibly staying at 4340 Old Olive Road in Marshall County. Troopers went to the residence where they located Brelsford. He was taken into custody without incident. Twenty-eight year old Brelsford was charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, three McCracken County Sheriff's Office warrants for Failure to Appear, and a Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement warrant for Escape 2nd Degree. Kentucky State Police also arrested 22-year-old, Jessica Powell, at the residence. Ms. Powell was charged with Hindering Apprehension of a Fugitive. The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.

(Ledbetter, Ky.) -- Don Brelsford was last seen in the Reidland area around 4:00pm on March 20, 2011. Brelsford is now wearing blue jeans and a Saint Louis Rams jacket. Brelsford is carrying a white mesh bag. The Kentucky State Police has retrieved the damage handcuffs that Brelsford was wearing at the time of his escape. (Ledbetter, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police went to 183 McGuire Road to execute arrest warrants. Upon arrival, officers found an active methamphetamine lab and arrested five individuals, one of which was Don Brelsford, who had outstanding warrants from McCracken County and Graves County. While being transported, Mr. Brelsford advised the officer that he was becoming ill. The officer started to pull over on Clarks River Road at James Marine and he rolled the rear window down for Mr. Brelsford to use in case he became ill. Sometime during transport, Mr. Brelsford was able to bring his cuffed hands from his back to the front of his body, and opened the rear door from the outside vehicle handle. Once outside the vehicle, Mr. Brelsford ran towards the flood water towards the Clarks River and jumped in. Additional agencies responded to the scene assisting in the search, however, Brelsford was not located.

Don Brelsford is a white male, 5'9" tall, 140 pounds. He has several tattoos on his neck, and a spider web tattoo on his arm.

Christopher Battoe was arrested on a McCracken County warrant and two Kentucky State Police warrants, Manufacturing Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Kentucky State Police also arrested Victoria Turner for Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Hindering Prosecution, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Fleeing and Evading Police 2nd Degree on Foot; Chelsea Cathey was arrested for Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Hindering Prosecution, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Michael Creech was arrested for Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Hindering Prosecution, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Kentucky State Police was assisted in the search of Mr. Brelsford by the McCracken County Sheriff's Office and the Paducah Police Department.
