Three arrested on theft charges

(Calvert City, Ky.) -- On Wednesday, January 5, 2011, Kentucky State Police received a call from McCracken Central Dispatch to observe for a silver Oldsmobile Alero with Tennessee tags. The vehicle had been involved in a theft from Best Buy in Paducah, KY earlier in the day. Trooper T.J. Williams was patrolling I-24 and observed a vehicle matching the description ramping on to the Purchase Parkway to travel south. Trooper Williams initiated a traffic stop along with Trooper David Archer and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Mark Townsend. After a brief roadside investigation, it was determined the vehicle contained approximately $4,000 in stolen laptop computers from Best Buy and assorted other items stolen from other stores in Kentucky Oaks Mall. Trooper Williams arrested Brandi Mayo, 23 and Lavosier Johnson, 18 both of Nashville, TN. Both were charged with Receiving Stolen Property Over $500 and were lodged in the Marshall County Jail. A third subject in the vehicle, a juvenile, was detained and possible charges are pending. Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Marshall County Sheriffs Office and Paducah Police Department. The investigation is continuing by Trooper T.J. Williams.
