Reckless homicide indictment warrants

(Henderson, Ky.) -- On Wednesday, March 30, 2011, the Kentucky State Police in Henderson charged 19 year old Whitley P. Bennett of Beech Grove with one count of Reckless Homicide and one count of Driving Under the Influence 1st degree-aggravated.
The investigation was initiated on January 30, 2011 when Bennett was involved in a single vehicle collision on KY 56, west of Beech Grove. Her passenger, Hakeem L. Harris (19) of Evansville was killed after she lost control of her 1996 Chrysler Sebring and struck a group of trees. Two others were hurt in the collision, Kendra Johnson (18) of Henderson and Javon Burton (20) of Evansville.
The investigation was presented to the McLean County Grand Jury on Monday, March 28, 2011. The Grand Jury issued the indictment warrants. It was determined that Bennett's blood alcohol level was over the legal limit at the time of the collision.
