Narcotic Arrest at Earl C. Clements Job Corps in Morganfield, Ky

(Henderson, Ky.) -- On January 4th, Post 16 Henderson conducted a special detail at Earl C. Clements Job Corps in Morganfield, Ky. The detail consisted of utilizing several K-9's in an attempt to locate narcotics within the luggage of returning students. On this date, approximately 1200 students returned to campus from Christmas break. The returning students were from numerous states across the country. Larry D. Burks was charged for having 3 separate bags of marijuana on his person. James J. Cotterill was charged for attempting to throw away several pills to include xanax. A separate investigation was opened for 15 grams of marijuana, found in various locations on campus. The marijuana was believed to have been discarded by students. K-9 officers were used from Kentucky State Police Special Operations Branch that are assigned to Post 1, Post 2, Post 3, and Post 16. Commercial Vehicle Enforcement K-9 from Region 1 also assisted. Henderson City Police K-9 and Henderson County Sheriff's Department K-9 were also involved. Union County Sheriff's Department also assisted in this detail. The two individuals charged were lodged in Union County Jail.
