Marion County Man Charged with Attempted Murder

(Lebanon, Ky.) -- 51-year-old James C. Smith of Lebanon has been arrested and charged with the attempted murder of his wife, Kathy Smith. On December 10that approximately 01:14 AM EDT KSP received a call from the Lebanon Police Department stating that Kathy Smith was at the Police Department and had been involved in a domestic disupute at 3450 Hwy 208.

Tpr. Morris Farris responded and the investigation revealed that James Smith had attempted to shoot his wife following a verbal dispute. Kathy Smith was not injured by the attempt and was able to escape the residence with her daughter and a friend of her daughter's after wrestling the gun away from James Smith.

Tpr. Farris went to the residence and arrested Smith without incident at 4:37 AM EDT. He was lodged in the Marion County Detention Center. The Marion County Sheriff's Department assisted. The case remains under investigation.
