One killed in a two vehicle collision on KY90

(Burkesville, Cumberland County, Ky.) - Sgt. Jamie Heller is investigating a fatal collision that occurred 09/07/11 at approximately 6:49 a.m., 3 miles west of Burkesville on KY90. Megan Crafton, age 24, of Burkesville, was traveling eastbound on KY90 in a 1999 Ford. Ms. Crafton exited a graded curve and attempted to slow for stopped traffic at a stop sign when she began to lose control of her vehicle. Ms. Crafton's vehicle left the eastbound lane of travel and entered the westbound lane where she was struck in the right side by a 1999 Ford pickup operated by James B. Kerr, age 27, also of Burkesville. Ms. Crafton was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to the Cumberland County Hospital where she was treated and released. Mr. Kerr was belted at the time of the collision and was not injured. A passenger in the Ms. Crafton's vehicle, 6 year old Gracie Hurt of Burkesville was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced deceased at the Cumberland County Hospital. Sgt. Heller was assisted at the scene by Cumberland County EMS, the State Highway Department, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department and Trooper Tony Wells.
