Russell County man charged with Rape

(Russell Springs, Ky.) -- 38-year-old Michael York of Russell Springs has been arrested and charged with Rape 1st, Sodomy 1st, Burglary 1st, Attempted Rape 1st, Menacing, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.

On Sunday, July 24th Post 15 received a complaint that an adult female had been taken to a secluded area in Russell County where she was raped and sodomized at knife point. The perpetrator then went to a residence in Russell Springs, forced his way into the residence and attempted to rape another female. The second victim was able to get away and York fled.

The investigation led KSP Troopers and Russell Springs City Police officers to a residence on Brian Walters Drive in Russell Springs where they encountered York. After a brief struggle, York was apprehended at 2:03 on Monday morning, July 25th and lodged in the Russell County Jail. A knife was found in his possession and he was positively identified by both female victims. The first victim was treated and released at a local hospital. The case is being investigated by KSP Detective B.J. Burton.
