Pursuit & Felony Arrest in Ashland, KY

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested a Boyd County resident on drug related charges after a short vehicle pursuit near the 5000 block of Blackburn Avenue in Ashland, KY. The incident occurred yesterday around 5:15 pm when Trooper Shane Goodall and Trooper David Hobbs witnessed a suspected drug transaction between a pedestrian and an occupant of a vehicle. Trooper Goodall attempted to stop one of the vehicles (1995 Geo Tracker) which refused to stop and continued on Blackburn Avenue towards US 23. The suspect eventually stopped near the junction of US 23 where he was placed under arrest. Troopers seized over 400 Oxycodone pills from the vehicle.
The suspect, 50 year old Frederick Jackson, of Ashland, KY was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Offense, Fleeing and Evading 1st, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Resisting Arrest.
The case is under investigation by Trooper Shane Goodall.
