Fatal collision at the junction of Turkey Lick Road and KY 67

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating a two vehicle collision that occurred at the junction of Turkey Lick Road and KY 67 (Industrial Parkway) in Greenup County KY. The collision occurred around 1250 hours today (10/05/2011). Robert Williams, age 46, of Greenup, KY was travelling South on KY 67 operating a 1984 Mack Dump Truck. Sherman Stewart, age 61 of Argillite, KY was travelling on Turkey Lick Road operating a 1996 Lincoln Passenger car. It appears Mr. Stewart pulled onto KY 67 and struck the vehicle of Mr. Williams.

Mr. Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene by Greenup County Coroner Neil Wright at 2 PM. Multiple agencies responded including Little Sandy Fire Department, Greenup EMS, and Emergency Management from Greenup County. It did not appear that Mr. Williams was wearing a seat belt.

Officer Ferrell and Gearheart from Commercial Vehicle Enforcement are the lead investigators. KY 67 was temporarily shut down for several hours due to the collision.
