Date of News Release: 09/24/2011
(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland encourages the citizens of Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence Counties to beware of a local scam that has occurred in the Carter and Rowan County areas. One local incident was reported to the Kentucky State Police involving a local citizen who received a visit (on 9-22-2011) from two young individuals asking for money to support injured Soldiers at the Keller Army Hospital in West Point, NY. The two individuals were described as a well dressed male and female in their early twenties driving a white van. The incident occurred in the Tick Ridge area of Olive Hill (Carter County) but there has been another incident in the Rowan County area as well.
