Armed Robbery of Pharmacy in Neon

Date of News Release: 09/22/2011

(Hazard, KY) -- On Wednesday, September 21, 2011 Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call from the Family Drug Store, in the Neon community of Letcher County, advising that the store had been robbed. The caller advised that a man entered the store wearing a white bandana over the lower part of his face, armed with a semi-automatic handgun. The subject demanded that employees of the pharmacy place a quantity of Lortab and Xanex prescription pills in a black and white bag, before fleeing from the store on foot. A green Ford Tarus was observed leaving the area at a high rate of speed, but it is unknown if this subject was in the car. No one was injured during this incident.

The subject is described as a white male, around 40 years of age. He is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs around 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark toboggan, sunglasses, white bandana, and a brown flannel shirt.

There are no suspects at this time, and this incident remains under investigation by KSP Detective Randy Combs. Anyone with information concerning this robbery is urged to contact KSP Post 13 in Hazard.
