Single Vehicle Fatality Occurs In Leslie County

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On August 17, 2011 at approximately 11:02 p.m. Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a report of a single vehicle collision on HWY 66, in the Roark community of Leslie County.

Initial investigation indicates that 40 year old Hobert Asher of Herrogate, TN, was operating a vehicle on the highway that became disabled. Mr. Asher got out and pushed the vehicle backwards, in an apparent attempt to restart it. When he attempted to get back into the vehicle, it rolled over an embankment, ejecting him. Hobert Asher received fatal injuries from this incident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, by the Leslie County Coroner. This collision remains under investigation by Trooper Earl Whitaker.
